2 weeks ago - the DOW high was 16,460.33.
The low was 16,046.99.
This week the DOW high was 16,466.04.
The low was 16,191.79!

HIGHER HIGH'S AND LOWER LOW'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a chart person - when you see this action there is only one conclusion!!!!!

GE has a pending spinoff of part of its GE Capital Financial Unit!!!
This spinoff will be handled through an IPO of its consumer lending business. The offering of the companies leanding unit, which will be called SYNCHRONY FINANCIAL is sheduled to take place later in 2014.
The IPO could raise as much as $27 BILLION!!!!!!

3) THERE MUST BE A LOT OF MORONS!!!

Monday we woke up to the Russian invasion of  the Ukraine!!!!
If you watched any news channel that day - you would have thought - OH GOD WORLD WAR 111!!!!!
Monday the DOW closed DOWN 154 and closed around 16,167. At it's low of the day it was at 16,071.25!!!
Now I'm going to rant!!!
The world population is around 7.046 BILLION PEOPLE.
The US population is around 313.9 MILLION PEOPLE!
With what you see going on in the rest of the world - YOU SHOULD THANK GOD - THAT YOU WERE BORN HERE OR LIVE HERE - IN THE GREATEST COUNTRY GOD EVER CREATED!!!!!

Ukraine - HISTORY LESSON and why PUTIN wants the CRIMEA!
Let's start with geography. CRIMEA offers RUSSIA what it sorely lacks - access to the sea.
Remember most of Russian ports are in area's where the water freezes at least 6 months of the year!
For much of it's history Russia was a landlocked state. Being landlocked limited it's access to world markets! It left it's leaders feeling isolated and marginalized - a second-rate power! and on the periphery of the civilized world.
CRIMEA OFFERED RUSSIA AN ICE-FREE PORT, not so much for shipping,but as a base for it's NAVEL POWER!!!
Sevastopol makes a great navel base! It has a large , deep, defensible harbor and its located almost in the middle of the Black Sea, offering easy jumping-off point to project power in all directions in all seasons!
By the way CRIMEA  has a Russian population consisting of 58.32% of the population whereas Ukrananians are only 24.32%! Just so you know why PUTIN is so interested in CRIMEA!!
I bet you will not here that on your news networks!!!!

I was asked why is the S&P making new high after new high and the DOW is dragging it's feet?
VERY COMPLICATED - because the DOW 30 stocks are weighted - for instance VISA , BOEING, EXXON were all down for the week.
VISA makes up 8.75% of the DOW
BOEING makes up 5.06% of the DOW
EXXON makes up 3.68% of the DOW
That's why it's lagging behind the S&P.

The DOW closed @ 16,452.72- up 131.01 or up 0.80%
Remember this # 16,576.66 - that's where the DOW closed on December 31st,2013
Two closes over that figure - look out we will be off to the races on the upside!!!

This stock is still a steal - it's net asset value is $68!!!
CHK closed @ $25.85 - down 0.06 cents or down 0.23%
This stock is poised to run up to $30

This stock is headed to close to $10

Still waiting for this stock to spin off its parts to create more value!
